Study for the Treatment of Crohn's Disease with Adacolumn
Clinical trials are now being conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Adacolumn® Apheresis System for treatment of Crohn's Disease. This study will enroll 234 patients in approximately 40 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
The Adacolumn Apheresis System is an investigational device that is designed to selectively remove certain populations of white blood cells. It is thought that this treatment may result in decreased inflammation, tissue damage and disease symptoms. The goal of this trial is for each subject to potentially achieve remission from the disease.
All study participants will be under the direct supervision of a team of medical professionals throughout the duration of the study.
SONIC: A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Active Controlled Trial Comparing REMICADE® (infliximab) and REMICADE plus Azathioprine to Azathioprine in the Treatment of Patients with Crohn’s Disease Naive to both Immunomodulators and Biologic Therapy
This study seeks to investigate the effectiveness of Remicade (the generic name is infliximab) and Imuran (the generic name is azathioprine) in the treatment of patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn’s disease. Remicade is currently approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for the treatment of both Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Cerimon Pharmaceuticals is looking for people with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis, that does not respond to oral steroid treatment, to participate in an international clinical research study that is evaluating basiliximab as a potential new treatment for ulcerative colitis. Basiliximab targets immune cells that are thought to play a role in the inflammatory process associated with ulcerative colitis, and makes them more responsive to steroids.135 volunteers will participate in this study at clinical study sites in approximately 8 countries. All medical visits and procedures performed for the study will be done at no cost to you.
